Elliot Christopher Vaughn

August 6, 2019

Resided in: Johnson City, TN

Elliot Christopher Vaughn passed tragically while at work on August 6 as the result of anaphylactic shock from multiple hornet stings. He was 26 years old. He is survived by his parents Chris and Anne Vaughn of Johnson City, brother Max, and fiancée, Jessie Paige Feathers. As well as grandmother, Beverly Vaughn and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Elliot was born in Johnson City and attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School prior to graduating from Science Hill High School in 2011, where he was on the wrestling team. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Industrial Engineering in May of 2017. For the last two years, he utilized the knowledge he’d gained from school to work and become co-owner of Mr. Green Thumb, their family business, with his father.

Elliot was charismatic, funny, and full of life. He was an avid sailor, hunter, and most recently, honey beekeeper. Those that loved Elliot realize the hole that is now left in the world. He was a giant personality that filled the room with charm and a laugh. Neither will ever be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been created for the Science Hill Wrestling Team. Donations to the Elliot Vaughn Memorial Fund for Science Hill Wrestling Club can be made at all First Tennessee and Capital Banks or mailed to:

  17. M. Stull says:

There are no words to describe the loss of such a beautiful person. I can only equate it to having your heart, soul, and legs ripped away. The pain and shock that so many of his friends, acquaintances, former teammates, and coworkers are experiencing could not come close to the pain that you all must be feeling (Anne, Chris, Max, and Jessie).

    To Anne and Chris,

The loving and doting parents of such a wonderful person. There is so much in Elliot’s life to be proud of. I have had the privilege of knowing him through part of his development. The way he treated others, cared about his family, and brought smiles to anyone he met is an absolute reflection of the amazing parents that raised him. Thank you for giving such a wonderful gift to this planet.

    To Max,

I cannot emphasize how much pride Elliot had in his brother/best friend/teammate/roommate. Almost none of the conversations I had with Elliot were ones where you were not mentioned. It is rare to see brothers with a bond like you two. Although Elliot is gone, that bond will forever remain. When thinking about you two together, it is impossible not to smile.

    To Jessie,

The love of Elliot’s life, the one he planned on growing old with. What immediately comes to mind is the immense love and comfort you two shared and how apparent this was to anyone who witnessed you two together or ever spoke with Elliot regarding his relationship. He could not have been more lucky to have a partner like you!

There will never be enough or the right words for such a tragedy. However, I am blessed and privileged to know someone as amazing as Elliot and those who helped to shape the wonderful soul that he became.

The Stull family will always have a special place for Elliot and his loved ones.

As a kid around 14 years old, I was stung 5 times by yellow jackets when my friend mowed over
their nest. We were lucky to be within quick running distance of his back door, and his mom
came running out and started swatting them with a rolled newspaper. We were very lucky.
