Kathleen Mary LaShomb, 62, Johnson City, TN, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016, surrounded by family and friends at Johnson City Medical Center. Originally from Lawrenceville, NY, Kathleen has been a transplant in Johnson City for approximately 40 years. She loved this area and enjoyed all the craft festivals it had to offer. She fully enjoyed traveling via cruises, bus trips, and day trips; especially to Cherokee, NC, and as always, trips back home to northern NY brought her great joy. After receiving her BSN from East Tennessee State University and her Masters in Educaiton from Phoenix University, she retired from Johnson City Medical Center after 35 years in nursing. In addition to her parents, Harvey and Barbara LaShomb, she was preceded in death by, her brother, Jerome ?Jerry" LaShomb. Survivors include: her partner of 40 years, Marlene Steenberg; her brothers, Keith F. LaShomb, John H. LaShomb and his wife Sharon, Gordon L. LaShomb and his wife Carolyn, Nelson J. LaShomb and his wife Marilyn; sisters, Lucille B. Jock and her husband LeRoy, and Karen V. Tipton and her husband Anthony; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; Haley and Mattie, who always had a very special place in her heart; and her extended family at Boone Hill Court community. The family of Kathleen LaShomb will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Mike Richards officiating. Pallbearers will be: Keith LaShomb, John LaShomb, Gordon LaShomb, Nelson LaShomb, Wayne Steenberg, Johnny LaShomb and Jason LaShomb. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM Thursday to go in procession to Monte Vista Memorial Park for 10:00 AM graveside services.     Marlene, I was so sorry to hear of Kathleen’s passing. She was a wonderful woman who always gave so much of herself in everything she did. I so enjoyed working with her and our talks about everything from A to Z. You will be in my prayers and take comfort in knowing that you had that special love that only comes once in a lifetime. You are blessed to have shared you life with such a wonderful woman.

    Marlene, Karen and all the Lashomb family, I am saddened to say goodbye to such a dear friend. I have many memories of Kathleen from our first meeting at Johnson City Memorial Hospital in the late 1970’s where we met as LPNs. She became a very special friend. Kathleen was a kind soul with a huge heart. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family of whom she spoke so often. I will forever remember the many conversations about each of you.     I’m so sorry for your loss, Kathleen was always fun to be around. I worked with her in Information Systems at JCMC for years. I remember that she loved crafts and for my wedding 20 plus years ago she made me an afghan that is still used by our family. May she rest in peace.
