Orlin Leroy Humphrey

Orlin L. Humphrey, 75, of 521 Humphrey Road, Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Welmont Hospice House in Bristol. He was a native and lifelong resident of Piney Flats, son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Sarah Elizabeth Carr Humphrey. Orlin was a self employed painter for 34 years. He was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ and was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Bare. Survivors include his wife, Ethel "Mae" Humphrey of the home; two sons, Aaron Humphrey and Gaithor Humphrey and his wife Geneva all of Piney Flats; two daughter and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael McConnell of Johnson City and Charlotte and Billy Groseclose of Piney Flats; two sisters, Betty Phipps of Bristol and Mary Carrier of Piney Flats; three brothers, Gordon Humphrey of Bluff City, Theodore Humphrey of Piney Flats and Dwight Humphrey of Piney Flats; three grandsons, Eric and Jason Humphrey and Chad McConnell; several nieces and nephews. A funeral is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 8:00 p. m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Eddy Craft. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Shell Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Penix, Dan Bowman, Tim Vines, Hadley Townsend, Shannon Brown, Dart Phillips, Steve Pappas and William Booher. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
