Richard Wayne “Dick” Brumit, 75, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City, son of the late R. D. Sr. and Ailene McCurry Brumit.

Richard was an active partner in The Brumit Company. The Brumit Company a real estate leasing and development firm has been in the East Tennessee area for the past 30 years. In his earlier years, Richard was active in the family business operating supermarkets and convenience stores.

In addition to his parents, a niece Leanna Stump also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, R. D. “Bob” Brumit, Jr. and Phyllis B. of Johnson City, a niece and her husband, Jessica B. and Hunter Burleson of Piney Flats. His sister, Rebecca Brumit Watson and niece, Emily Watson, nephew and his wife, Evan D. and Taylor Wyatt Watson all of Lawton, OK; several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, a funeral service will follow in the Oak Chapel at 4:00 pm under the direction of Rev. Jim Cambron and Evan D. Watson. A committal service will be conducted in the Monte Vista Memorial Park on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are asked to assemble by 10:50 am. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 or the Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place W. #230, Landover, MD 20785.
