Robert Edward Lee Miller, age 39, of Johnson City, Tennessee, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Johnson City Medical Center due to injuries sustained from a fall while working on the roof of his home.

Robert was born in Johnson City on April 3, 1980. He was a graduate of Science Hill High School, a college graduate of King College, and a veteran in the United States Army. He also served as Alderman of Bluff City, Tennessee. Robert currently worked as the Ambulatory Care Chief at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

Robert was a beloved father, son, and brother who loved hiking, golf, traveling, and time with his family.

Robert had many successes in his life but his greatest accomplishment was being a father. He is survived by his son, Gabriel Lee Miller; step-daughter, Jessica Murabito; mother, Julie Thornton; father, Jaydee Garland Jr.; maternal grandmother, Juanita Miller; paternal grandmother, Betty Garland; sister, Traci Skipper (and husband, Marty Skipper); brother, Chris Garland; step-sister, Katie Thornton; his significant other whom he loved dearly, Meagan McPherson; nephews, Damian Garland, Jayden Garland, and Cameron Garland; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Archie Lee Miller and paternal grandfather, Jaydee Garland Sr.

Robert’s family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral will immediately follow, at 8:00 p.m. The committal service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Please meet at the cemetery by 11:50 a.m. Active pallbearers will be: Dr. Steve Clayton, Dr. Matt Parks, Eric Archer, Mack Arthur Jr. Cooke, Steve Johnson, Brian Crawford, John George, and Coit Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will include Christopher Garland and Marty Skipper.
