When I first came to the V.A. from ETSU I was having trouble with my computer, just  trying to get a simple task to work.  Zebbie introduced herself to me and asked if I was having trouble. That convinced me that not only was I not just a computer idiot but also a very bad poker player too. Zebbie suggested all manner of fixes but none worked. Zebbie waved people in as they walked by at the end of lunch that day. Soon I had met most of the people down my hallway and even though no one had a solution to my problem with the computer, I felt much better getting to know to know my hallmates from one of Zebbie"s instant parties.

Her loss will felt here for quite some time. Heaven will love her.

This is the Zebbie Bradnt I knew. Six months ago my father passed away before Christmas. When Zebbie found out, she did not ask if I wanted her to come, she said "I am on my way." Within 30minutes she was pulling in my driveway. She stayed with me that day and the next day she was there to drive me to the funeral home for arrangements.  The whole time my heart was breaking, Zebbie stood by my side and put her hands on my shoulders and sit with me until I was ready to stop and get back to making the arrangements.  I never will forget this. Zebbie also helped me to keep my focus on taking pictures of the items to be buried with my father and arranged them in such a way that this was priceless. I now have those pictures of those items he dearly loved that are now with him. Otherwise at that time I would not have remembered to do this. I just want her family to know how much she meant to me during this time of grief and loss. She will always be in my heart and never will i forget such a treasured friend. My prayers are with you all.

Below are just some of the comments received from VA Local Recovery Coordinators around the country. Zebbie was a vital part of our network and will remain in our hearts forever. We thank her family for sharing her with us, and we grieve with you over her loss.

My fondest memories of my first LRC Conferences were the very warm, genuine, and committed folks I met and who showed me the way. Zebbie was in the group I went to dinner with several times and joined our VISN 16 pack. Her manner was so affirming, her smile so infectious, and her sense of humor twisted enough that she fit right in. We have lost one of the best! She is missed!

She will be missed by many. Such a shock.

I know our collective hearts are heavy with sorrow and sympathy.  May her memory be a blessing.

Very sad news, my heart is heavy.

Zebbie and I spent hours on the phone discussing how to implement recovery practice on the inpatient units and how to work with Leadership around these issues.  We often felt like annoying but always friendly little dogs  advocating for veterans and their recovery.  I will miss her and miss our discussions.  God’s restful peace to her as she travels the journey home.

We will miss Zebbie and her wonderful smile.

    She was so sweet!

    So sad.

    Heartbreaking news.

That is just so sad…… I remember her from several conferences and she was so nice and fun……

I will miss her sweet Southern accent and her positive and can-do attitude.

I can’t express how terrible it is to hear of this news.

That is so sad!  She was a wonderful person.

I’m stricken with this news. It just took all the wind out of my sail.

Sad for the whole crew.  She has always been such an active member of the team.

Sad news indeed.  May we be comforted by our memories of her, her laughter and that incredible smile.
