Alice Fern Short

Alice Fern Artis Short, aged 61, of 142 Honeycutt Road, Unicoi, Tennessee, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at NHC Health Care. A native of Cucumber, West Virginia, Mrs. Short had lived in Unicoi for the past 20 years. She was the daughter of the late Lula Mae Woody Artis and the late Robert E. Artis. She attended Grace Fellowship. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Short was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Artis, and a nephew, Michael Robert Jessee. Surviving Mrs. Short are two daughters, Jennifer Pinnell of Unicoi and Sherry Phillips of Kingsport; two sisters, Sue Jessee of Bristol, Tennessee and Lisa Adkins of Princeton, West Virginia; one brother, Robert Artis of St. Petersburg, Florida; four grandchildren, Ashley Pinnell, Trae Pinnell, Joshua Phillips and Amber Phillips; a step-mother, Billie Artis and two step-sisters, Teresa Lane and Glenna Shelton, all of St. Petersburg, Florida. A funeral service for Mrs. Short will be held on Monday, May 15th at 8:00 PM in Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM prior to the service.
