Alice R. Collins, '?I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course and there is, in store for me, the Crown of Righteousness II Timothy 4:7. Alice R. Collins went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. Alice will be remembered as a special, caring and giving person. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing and until recently, she led a group at the Johnson City Senior Center, 'Dancing With Alice.'? She was a volunteer at the Johnson City Medical Center and had almost 5,000 hours of volunteer services. She was the owner of the former Baby Department Store and Tots and Teens Children Shop where she clothed three generations of precious children. She was the Baby Department manager at Powells Departments Store and was co-owner of Collins Grocery. She was a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church for 68 years, where she taught Sunday School, worked on the Kitchen Committee, was a member of the Committee on Committees and sang in the Senior Adult Choir. Alice was the daughter of Bob and Lydia Davis of Grundy, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William C. Collins in 1984 and a great grandson, Blair Burchfield, seven brothers, one sister; and six half brothers and five half sisters. She is survived by her son and his wife, Jim and Shelby Collins of Piney Flats; daughter and her husband, Nancy and Pete Faucette of Johnson City. Grandchldren are: David and Leslie Collins of Greer, SC; Sharon Miller of Johnson City; Greg and Teri Faucette of Orlando, FL; Rachelle Faucette of Johnson City, Step-grandchildren, Ed and Lori Haines of Johnson City; David and Lisa White of Johnson City; Rod and Missi Emmert of Old Hickory, TN. Her great grandchildren are; Hailey Collins, Caleb Collins, William Faucette, Logan Faucette, LeAnn and Will Vinson, Jordan Haines, Dalton Emmert, Brooklin Emmert, Sarah White and Evan White. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, two special sisters-in-law Pearl Davis of Richmond, VA and Gladys Davis of Grundy, VA. Her best friend, Marie Kellum Gouge, is remembered along with the mother of the Collins children, Mrs. Gail Combs and her husband, Curtis of Johnson City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Dr. Ron Murray and Rev. Ronnie Mitchell. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Janice Stone. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, honorary pallbearers will be: employees at Wellington Place, Volunteers at the Johnson City Medical Center, her Sunday School Class, good friends at the Johnson City Senior Citizens Center and other friends too numerous to mention. You know who you are and what you meant to her.
