Alma Mauk Hart, 86, of Concord, North Carolina passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at her home after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers disease. Mrs. Hart originally of Elizabethton, Tennessee was a native of Washington College, Tennessee. She was a daughter of Q.N. and Iva Kyker Mauk. Alma married Charles Hart, December 5, 1950 and enjoyed over 56 years of love and marriage. Alma worked at the corporate headquarters of Pet Dairy-Johnson City, Tennessee and Calloway Construction, Johnson City, TN until her retirement. Gardening and growing her beautiful flowers were a wonderful joy along with cooking great meals. Alma was a member of Watauga Point United Methodist Church, Tennessee and later joined Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Concord, North Carolina. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Everete Mauk and sisters, Juanita Conley, Arlene Snell and her identical sister, Velma Mauk. Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Hart of Concord, NC, her son, Dr. Roger Hart, Hampton, Virginia, her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Michael Simerly of Concord, NC and her step granddaughter, Hannah Simerly of Concord, NC. A funeral service for Mrs. Hart will be conducted at 12:30 Pm Thursday, May 17, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Reverend Mack Houston will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services.
