Alta Pearl Holland

Alta Shepherd Holland, age 93, of 521 Dru Lane, Johnson City, Tennessee died Friday, December 29, 2006 at her daughter?s residence. Mrs. Holland was a native of Unicoi County and a lifelong resident of the area. She was the daughter of the late Anna Horton Shepherd and the late Arthur Shepherd. She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her husband, Robert LeRoy Holland, Sr., three brothers, Frank, Earl and John Shepherd and a half-brother, Billy Shepherd. She is survived by two sons, Robert LeRoy Holland, Jr. of Johnson City, Jess L. Holland and his wife Kathy of Jonesborough; six daughters, Ann H. Hughes and her husband Allen of Johnson City, Thelma H. Smith and her late husband Frazier of Jonesborough, Betty H. Stevens of Johnson City, Delores H. Day of Telford, Elizabeth 'Jane' H. Phillips and her husband Johnny of Gray, Sharon H. Ball of Johnson City; two half-brothers, Dr. Gene Shepherd and Elmer Shepherd both of Johnson City; two half-sisters, Louise Trussler and Doris Shepherd both of Carter County; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Shepherd will be held Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Paddy Kendall-Ball will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday. Graveside services and burial will be private at Sparks Cemetery.
