Alvah B. 'AL' Ferguson Jr. 62, 1701 Fairway Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Ferguson was a native of Detroit, Michigan, and came to Johnson City in 1953. He was a son of the late Alvah B. Ferguson Sr. Mr. Ferguson was an Insurance Agent and a member of the Life Underwriters Association, where he had served as former local and state President. He was a former President of the Johnson City Cardinals Baseball Team. Mr. Ferguson was an Avid Golfer and a supporter of ETSU Sports. He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church. Survivors include: his mother, Lennis Sheffield Ferguson, of Johnson City; his wife, Vickie Fortner Ferguson, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Al B. Ferguson III, and wife, LeAnn, of Richmond, VA, Randy B. and Larissa Ferguson, of Johnson City; one daughter, Julie A. Ferguson, of Johnson City; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service for Alvah B. Ferguson Jr. will be conducted at 10:30 AM Monday, April 18, 2005, in the Grace Fellowship Church. Pastor Tom Oyler will officiate. The music will be by Jim Fickley, pianist. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phil Carriger, Don Arnold, Phil Street, Gary Alber, Tony Ferro, Rick Lowe, Tom Shearin, Paul Bellamy, Richard 'Toad' Williams and Dan McKinney. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5 to 7 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to the Grace Fellowship Church, 2314 Greenwood Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604 or the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 521, Johnson City, TN 37601.
