Alvin Roger 'Tip' Tipton, 87, of Mooresville, NC , formerly of Johnson City, TN died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the home of his daughter, Gayle Tipton Hall. Mr. Tipton was born on December 28, 1919 in Johnson City and was the son of the late Elbert and Minnie Rogers Tipton. Mr. Tipton was a US Navy veteran of WW II and had been employed by the Clinchfield Railroad. While living in Johnson City he was an active member of the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Tipton moved to Mooresville, North Carolina in 1997. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-one years, Virlet Purkey Tipton; his children, Kaye Bridgers and husband Henry, Roger Tipton and wife Frankie of Lake Norman, NC, Gayle Tipton Hall of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Rick Cammer and wife Anne, Jonathan Tipton and wife Jamie, five great grandchildren ; and special caregiver Lynita Sikes. A graveside service for Alvin Roger 'Tip' Tipton will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, March 13,2007 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Bob Edmonds will officiate. The family will receive friends at the gravesite from 1:30 to 2 PM prior to the service
