Amos A. Pryor, 86, 808 Liberty Bell Blvd., Johnson City, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Pryor was a native of Knox County and had lived in Johnson City since 1948. He was a son of the late Joseph A. and Ora Sayne Pryor. Mr. Pryor was an Air Force veteran of WW II serving in the Medical Corps. Mr. Pryor was a retired employee in the laboratory at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home with twenty seven years of service. Mr. Pryor was a member of the East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church where he served as a former Youth Counselor, Lay Speaker and Trustee. He was a member of the Johnson City Senior Citizens and sang in the 'Musical Voices.' He was also a member of the American Legion and former member of the Johnson City Optimist Club. Mr. Pryor was a former manager and coach in the Johnson City Recreation Basketball League and a Manager and Coach in the Johnson City Little League Baseball for 35 years. Mr. Pryor is preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Ed Pryor and Charles Pryor; three sisters, Ruby Brown, Delores Wilson and Christine Pryor. Survivors include: his wife, Lockey Bryant Pryor, of the home; one son, John Kevin Pryor, of Johnson City; two brothers, Don Pryor, of Strawberry Plains, and Rubin Pryor, of Crossville, TN; two sisters, Dorothy Malonee, of Maryville, and Bonnie Warren, of Taylorsville, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Amos A. Pryor will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, March 17, 2005, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Pryor?s Pastor, Rev. Lon Tobin, will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Paul DeVoti, Larry Kilby, Bill Todd, James Paris, Jim Yelton and LeeKay Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion White, Sid Campbell, Bob Mayes, John Daniels, Bobby Jack James, Lawrence Fair, Dr. William Bailey, Dr. Steve Hoile, Michelle Roach, Arvie Foster, Charles McKinney, Bill Wilson, Tommy Hughes, Henry Triplett, Charles Malonee, Claude Storey and Mike Lukianoff. The graveside service will be conducted at 9:45 AM Friday in the Garden of the Cross at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:30 AM for the service. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the V.F.W. Post #3382 and the National Guard of Kingsport. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
