Ann Mooneyhan

August 5, 1944 — April 25, 2018

Ann Mooneyhan, 73, Johnson City, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a Jonesboro, TN native who lived most of her life in the Johnson City area and was the daughter of the late Paul William and Sara Hickey Keys. Mrs. Mooneyhan earned a degree in History from ETSU and taught several years in Greene County schools. Her long drives on country roads inspired her to focus on educating mentally challenged adults, which she did at Greene Valley and the Greeneville School System. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, where she formerly served as an Elder, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in children?s programs. Throughout her years in Johnson City, she was active in the Dilettantes, the Garden Club, the Junior Monday Club, the Jonesborough Schubert Club, the Junior League, as well as many school and PTA organizations. She enjoyed sewing, wildflowers, her grandchildren, travel, reading, laughter, time shared with friends and family, and walking with her beloved dog, Willie. Mrs. Mooneyhan was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Mooneyhan Family Foundation, established in honor and in memory of her late husband, Dr. Jerry A. Mooneyhan. She strongly believed that to whom much is given, much is expected, and the foundation continues to provide vital support to our local non-profit community. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mooneyhan is preceded in death by: her husband, Dr. Jerry A. Mooneyhan; son, Michael Craig Mooneyhan; and brother, Scott Keys. Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Craig Hart, and her husband Leighton, and Jocelyn Lacey, and her husband Steven; four grandchildren, Annie, Buddy, Blythe, and Franklin Hart; and brother-in-law, Jim Mooneyhan, and his wife Brenda. The family would like to express their thanks to the many beloved friends who loved and cared for Mrs. Mooneyhan during her illness. The family of Ann Mooneyhan will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary with Dr. Angus Shaw officiating. Pallbearers will be: Bill Stover, Wayne McElhiney, Mike Voitlein, Jim Williams, Jim Mooneyhan, and Stephen Sanders. Committal services will follow the funeral service in Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The River, 125 W Main St, Johnson City, TN 37604.
