Annagene Cook Mckee

January 24, 1928 — February 2, 2007

Annagene Cook Kingsley McKee, age 79, Johnson City, died Friday, February 2, 2007, at NHC Health Care Center, Johnson City, TN. Mrs. McKee was a native of Ohio but spent most of her adult life in California and Nevada. She moved to Johnson City in 1988. She was the daughter of Walter and Jesse Kingsley. Mrs. McKee attended Kent State University. She was a wonderful mother to her two daughters and was a homemaker until both were grown. She then worked twenty years for the State of Nevada as a welfare fraud investigator before retiring. She was active in the First Christian Church in Thousand Oaks, California serving as a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, and was named 'Mother of the Year' in 1966. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church while living in Carson City, Nevada. After moving to Johnson City, she became a member of Grandview Christian Church and also attended Jonesborough United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Monday Club, Book Club and was a volunteer worker at JCMC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and adoring husband of thirty-four years, William H. McKee. Survivors include: two daughters, Kathleen Simerly, and her husband Ed, of Johnson City, Patricia Fairbanks, and her husband Dennis, of Coarsegold, California; grandchildren, John W. McKee, Nashville, Kimberly McKee Broehl, Flagler Beach, Florida, Brandon Fairbanks, Coarsegold, California, Leanne Simerly, Elizabethton, Cari Fike, Fresno, California, and Derek Simerly, Bristol; great grandchildren, Hayden McKee, Nathan, Kyle, Lauren Fairbanks Ryan Fike, and Weston Glover; devoted cousin, Donna Lauer; and dear friends and great caregivers Georgia Freeman, Natasha Greenlee and Diane Shade. A memorial service in Johnson City will be scheduled at a later date. Interment and funeral service will be held at Rose Hills Memory Gardens in Whittier, California where Mrs. McKee will rest with her beloved husband and other family members. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory be made to Coalition For Kids, P.O. Box 3156, Johnson City, TN 37602.
