B. Don Pinkston

B. Don Pinkston, 74, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, unexpectedly died on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, ending an exemplary life of faith, work, and service for his Lord, his family, and his friends. After a four-year stint in the US Navy, Don settled into a distinguished career with American Telephone & Telegraph Company, retiring in 1985. After pursuing many other interests in post retirement; upon his death he was a valued staff member at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City, TN. Don was born December 13, 1934 in Bulls Gap, TN. He graduated from Bulls Gap High School and attended both ETSU and Dekalb College where he received his degree in business. Don was most recently a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN. His other interests included involvement with Gideon?s International, Masonic Lodge #486, extra-curricular work within his church and the 'Old Fossils' Club. He is sadly missed by his wife of over fifty years, Phyllis Jean Burch field Pinkston, his mother, Mary Ruth Walter Pinkston of Bulls Gap, one son, Mark Pinkston and his wife Becky of Savannah, GA, two daughters, Mary Pinkston Vaughn and Martha Pinkston Grant and her husband, Doug both of Charlotte, NC, four grandsons, Adam Vaughn, Aaron Vaughn, Andrew Grant and Alex Pinkston, two granddaughters, Sarah Vaughn Reiser and her husband, Clay and Emma Grant, one great grandson, William Patrick Reiser.A funeral service for Don will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, December 21, 2006 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Dr Reggie Weeks will officiate. Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 will provide Masonic funeral rites. Military graveside services, under the direction of Bristol Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held at 11 AM Friday at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 am and travel in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International, North Camp, PO Box 3695, Johnson City, TN 37602-3695.
