Barbara Pierce

Barbara Pierce, 50, 1004 King Richard Blvd., Johnson City, died Tuesday July 3, 2007 at home. Miss. Pierce was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City . She was the daughter of the late Dayton O. Pierce and Dorothy Wood Pierce. She was owner of Pierce Realty. She attended Vanderbilt University and graduated Cumlaude from East Tennessee State University in 1979. Miss. Pierce was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include: one sister, Beverly Sherwood and her husband Steve, of Johnson City; one niece, Stepanie Sherwood, of Boston; three nephews, Curt Sherwood, of Knoxville, Jeff Sherwood, of Knoxville and Stephen Sherwood, of Johnson City; one uncle, Roy Pierce and his wife Crystel, of Johnson City; three aunts, Marga Harrison, of Elizabethton, Ollie Pierce, of Johnson City and Gustava Pierce, of Florida; several cousins and Katherine (Kit) Sahlin, of the home. The funeral service for Barbara Pierce will be conducted at 3:30 PM Sunday, July 8, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. William Gwaltney will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 2 to 3:30 PM Sunday, prior to the service.
