Belva Lee Cox, 85. of Johnson City died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in Gainesville, Georgia following a brief illness. Mrs. Cox was a native of Charleston, West Virginia and had lived in Elizabethton and Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Stanley and Vada Norris Eller. Mrs. Cox was a past employee of Kings Department Store, Nettie Lee Boy and Girl Shop and Sears with a combined service of forty years. Mrs. Cox loved her family and friends, Braves baseball, Tennessee sports, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She will be sorely missed. Her Love of her fellow friends and family was a life concern, and had a quality that none could ignore or attain. She had the ability to touch you in a short time as if it were forever and made to remember, and to be a part of her forever. Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by: her husband, John Cecil Cox in 1993; a daughter, Janice Elaine Cox-Young; and one sister, Gladys Meredith. Survivors include: one brother, Daryl and his wife Lola Eller of Elizabethton; one grandson, Steven H. and his wife Meg Reed of Flowery Branch, GA; one grandaughter, Robin L. Vineyard of Knoxville, TN; and great grandchildren. The funeral service for Belva Lee Cox will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, January 25, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Mike Pelham will officiate. Music for the service will be by Brenda Pelham, Piano and Soloist. The committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Monday, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lynn Shankle, Allan Staten, Marty Norris, Tim Glover, Mark Glover, and Andy Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at Mrs. Coxs home ,707 N. North Street, Johnson City. The family request that memorial gifts be sent to the Grace Baptist Church, Paving Fund, 612 Collins Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604
