Bertha Lee Patterson

On Thursday, June 10th,2010 heavens choir was assembled to Sing Praises for the homecoming of Sister Patterson. For 92 years she lived each and every day serving the Lord and telling everyone she met about his mercy and grace. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and was the heartbeat of her family. Bertha Lee Patterson, 92,of Johnson City went home to Heaven Thursday, June 10, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Patterson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a daughter of the late Rue Sylvester and Lillie Mae Prevette Jackson. Mrs. Patterson was a wonderful mother, homemaker and a faithful prayer warrior. She was a Charter Member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patterson is preceded in death by her husband, Craig Garfield Patterson in 1990 and one son, Timothy Patterson; two sisters, Eveline Street and Bonnie Elizabeth Jackson; two brothers, Harry Jackson and James Jackson. Survivors include: three daughters, Jeanette and husband Ralph Brown, Jr., Charlotte and husband Charles Smith and Sharon Nance, all of Johnson City; four sons, James 'Jim'? and wife Dorothy Patterson of Johnson City, Dr. David and wife Jean Patterson of Exeter, California, Larry Patterson of Chattanooga, TN, and Stephen and wife Tammy Patterson of Walkertown, North Carolina; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Bertha Lee Patterson will receive friends from 9 to 10 AM Monday, June 14, 2010 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 10 AM in the South Chapel. Dr. David Patterson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Stephen Patterson and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Phillip Riley and Dr. Brian Bevins. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Niswanger Childrens Hospital, 400 State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37650
