Beth Bertha Allison

Beth Bertha Allison, 98, formerly of West Walnut Street, Johnson City died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Appalachian Christian Village. Mrs. Allison was a native of Fairwood, Virginia and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late John and Mary Greer Riddle. Mrs. Allison was a graduate of Newland (NC) High School and was a former student at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. She taught at Cranberry (NC) High School during World War II. Also during WW II, Mrs. Allison was a Clerk Agent at the Elk Park, NC railroad station and the last surviving employee of the narrow gauge division of the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad. Mrs. Allison was a loving mother, homemaker, and a member of the Midway Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School classes for many years. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Clarence C. Allison in 1979: a daughter, Carol Allison Campbell ; her step-father, T. J. Chafin; three sisters and one brother. Survivors include: one daughter, Joan Allison Dearden of Johnson City; one sister, Ruth Jones of Morristown; two brothers, R.M. Riddle of Elizabethton and John Riddle of Watauga ; a cousin, Kenneth Riddle of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Beth Bertha Allison will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 PM with Rev. Terry Able and Rev. Mike Garland, officiating. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 PM. .
