Betty B. Miller, Johnson City, Tennessee died on October 30, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on August 9,1924 in Glomar, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Arthur and Millie Bryant and grew up in Sparta, Tennessee. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son James William Miller, of Johnson City in 2012; sisters, Ruth Pedigo and Claudine Rodgers and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. Miller received a Bachelors degree in Audiology and a Masters degree in Communicative Disorders, with honors, from East Tennessee State University where she then taught. She was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church for fifty years where she was involved in many different groups. She served on several committees and Boards, was a member and teacher in the Solon Gentry Sunday School Class, and was a member of Circle 9 of the United Methodist Women. She was also a long-time member of The Monday Club and the Johnson City and University Garden Clubs. She loved to laugh, enjoyed reading, playing bridge, knitting and shelling. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, William Brock Miller; daughter Elizabeth Ann Miller of Nashville, Tennessee, son Robert Stephen Miller of Johnson City. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Alicia Dawn Miller, Jada Diana Miller and Melissa Ann Miller, all of Johnson City; nieces Patricia A. Brady of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Sue Whitehurst of Richmond, Virginia. A celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Munsey Memorial United Methodist at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Lester, Rev. Mark Gooden, and Rev. Douglas Grove-DeJamett officiating. Members of the Solon Gentry Sunday School Class and Circle 9 of the United Methodist Women will be honorary attendants. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Mountain Home National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.
