Betty Jean Johnson

Betty Jean Henderson Johnson, 77 passed away Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Johnson was an Atlanta, GA native and had lived in Johnson City since 1972. She was a daughter of the late William and Viola Moody Henderson. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, A.E. 'Bill'? Johnson in 2003. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Esther Sunday School Class, and the J.O.Y. Choir. She was a member and past president of the Monday Club, a board member at Northeast State College and the author of several childrens books including the 'Sleepy Hollow Twins'? series. Mrs. Johnson leaves three sons, Steven W. Johnson and his wife, Nita, Miami, FL; Donald M. Johnson and his wife, Pam, Palm Beach, FL and Michael R. Johnson and his wife, Melony, Newport News, VA; three sisters, Billie Joyce Fuller, Viola Elizabeth Ellis and Mina Kitty Kane; seven grandchildren, Sheree DAnne Satcher, Jennifer Jean Johnson, William Derry Bill Johnson, Benjamin Ross Johnson, Michelle Haley Johnson, Rebekah Ann Johnson and Ross Melvin Johnson; one great grandchild, Mia Makenzie Johnson and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, 300 North Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601. Dr. Ronald Murray and Rev. R. Willard Warfield will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
