Betty Jo Potter

March 10, 1933 — February 2, 2007

Betty Jo Potter, 73, of 603 Wendover Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an illness. She was a native of Johnson City and had lived here most of her life, daughter of the late, Bart and Maude Bailey Christian. Betty Jo was a homemaker and loved music and singing, being with her children and grandchildren. She belonged to the Tacoma Church of God and was past President of the Choir and past Vice President of the Women of the Church of God, she also attended the Mt. View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Potter and son-in-law, Jerry Tapp; seven brothers, James Allie, Ray, Donald, Lyons, Jimmy and Kyle Christian; two sisters, Helen Holbert and Nancy Pauline Stanton; two brothers-in-law Loyd F. Potter and Bruce Glenn Potter; an infant sister. Survivors include: her husband, Claude R. Potter of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Patti Potter of Johnson City and Dan and Paulette Potter of Bluff City; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Claudia-Ann and Tony Stitt of Mocksville, NC, Debbie Tapp of Johnson City, Sherry and Terry Ford, Arlington, TN and Nancy and Brian Archer of Gray; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Ginger Christian of Piney Flats; several sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren, Kelley, Alex, Ashley, Bradley, Krysten, Ryan, Stefanie, Lynsey and Nathan; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2007 in the North Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home at 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Darrell Sovine and Rev. Jim Cambron. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. There will be a committal service conducted on Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. to go to the cemetery in procession.
