Billy J. Gentry, Sr.

Mr. Billy J. Gentry, Sr., age 79, of Johnson City, passed away, Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Gentry was a native of Elizabethton and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Clayton Gentry and Radar Bowers Gentry. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one sister, Eureka Gentry; four brothers, Guy Gentry, Floyd Gentry, Charles Gentry and Ray Gentry; one step brother, B.O. Beard. Mr. Gentry was a retired construction worker. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include: his loving wife of forty years, Linda Gentry of the home; one son, Billy Gentry, Jr. and his wife Amy of Jonesborough; one daughter, Kathy Gentry of Johnson City; three brothers, Terry Gentry, Jimmy Gentry and Roger Gentry all of Johnson City; one sister, Susie Rhodes of Johnson City; one step-brother, Jackie Beard; one granddaughter, Jenna Gentry of Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Billy J. Gentry, Sr. will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Reece Harris will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Gary Orvis, Keilan Livingston, Daniel Ray, Jansen Henley, Joe Herden and Larry Brown. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
