Billy 'Jack' Grindstaff, 56, of 1205 Edgewood Street, Johnson City died Tuesday, August 2, 2006 at the Johnson County Medical Center in Mountain City. Mr. Grindstaff was a native of Washington County, TN and a son of the late Bill and Georgia Pierce Grindstaff. He owned Grindstaff Painting and Remodeling for 30 years . Mr. Grindstaff was a member of the McKinley Bible Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include: his wife of thirty three years Debbie Tolley Grindstaff of the home; a daughter, Samantha Grindstaff and a son Samuel 'Matthew' Grindstaff, both of the home; four sisters, Pauline Gillis of Telford, Judy Warren, Johnson City, Wanda Ruth Stillwagon of Jonesborough and Edith Grindstaff of Gray; two brothers, Johnny Gtrindstaff and Shelby Grindstaff both of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was a very special uncle to Taylor, Levi and Laken. Billy was a wonderful father, husband, brother, uncle, friend and Christian. The funeral service for Billy 'Jack' Grindstaff will be conducted Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 2 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Lenny Smith and Rev. Allen Byrd will officiate. Interment will follow in the McKinley Bible Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Morris-Baker. Active pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Senator Rusty Crowe, Dr. Horace Cupp, Dr. William Cone, Dr. Gilbert Rannick and Mr. Albert Berry. Memorials contributions may be made to the Haven of Mercy Rescue Mission, 123 W. Millard Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
