II Corinthians 5:8. ' We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.' Billy Joe Grindstaff, 73, 609 Morningside Drive, went to be with the Lord, July 2, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Grindstaff was a native of Unicoi County and had lived in Washington County most of his life. He was a son of the late Charlie and Myrtle Jones Grindstaff and was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Grindstaff and two brothers, Carl Taylor and Lewis Taylor. Mr. Grindstaff was a US Army veteran and had retired from Volunteer Natural Gas after 43 years service. He was member of Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Grindstaff was survived by his wife, Betty Shell Livingston Grindstaff; five sons, Roger Hughes and his wife Donna, Elizabethton, Ricky Grindstaff and his wife, Amy, Johnson City, Steve Livingston, Vancouver, Washington, Marty Livingston and his wife, Patty, Maryville and Luther Livingston and his wife, Becky, Elizabethton; six daughters, Brenda Johnson and her husband, Scott, Johnson City, Darlene Wilcox and her husband, Jimmy, Jonesborough, Doris Jean Hughes, Jonesborough, Joy Hughes, Jonesborough, Shelia Tadlock and her husband, Mike, Jonesborough and Tammy Nave and her husband, Ronnie, Elizabethton; two brothers, Jack Taylor, Church Hill and Charles Grindstaff, Jonesborough; three sisters, Maude Little, Jonesborough, Geraldine Lewis, and Alice Arnett both of Johnson City; fourteen gandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. funeral service for Mr. Grindstaff will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend John Perkins and Reverend Randy Lester will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Clyde Alexander, C.L. Woodby, Travis Cross, Lee Cross, Zachary Livingston, Larry Hincher and Coleman Standley. Honorary pallbearers will be John Webb, Bill Kervin, Gene Pickering, Jimmy Wilcox, Jeff Wilcox, Michael Johnson, the employees of the Dialysis Center, our Dialysis Family and Dr. Rachel Monderer. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Southside Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1928 Wheeler Street, Johnson City, TN 37604. . II Timothy 4: 7-8. ' I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.'
