Bobby Joe Jones

Bobby Joe Jones, 74, of 341 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mt. Home following an illness. He was a native of Manford, Oklahoma, son of the late Joe and Eunice Robertson Jones. Mr. Jones was a retired machinist in the carpet manufacturing business. He was a resident of Dalton, Georgia for 60 years but split time in Johnson City for the last 17 years and was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Allan Wayne Jones. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Jones of the home; two daughters, Judy Lofty of Bluff City and Joyce Allen of Johnson City; two brothers, Clinton Jones of Linden and Floyd Jones of Chatsworth, Georgia; three sisters, Christine Owens, Dalton, Georgia, Lucille Newton, Chatsworth, Georgia and Josephine Souther also of Dalton; three grandchildren, Casey Hyatt, Lara and Hunter Lofty; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2005 in the North Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Ira Cunningham. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs National Cemetery at Mt. Home at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be; Sidney Allen, David Lofty, Hunter Lofty, Josh Hyatt, Keith Cochran & Tim Cochran; Honorary pallbearers will be, Clinton Jones and Floyd Jones.
