Brenda D. Campbell

October 23, 1952 — February 6, 2013

Brenda D. Campbell, 60, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Ms. Campbell was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Jason Frank and Lula Daugherty Campbell. Early in her life she was called to nursing and served nearly forty years at the Johnson City Medical Center. It was her lifes work and her love. She was a member of the Tennessee Nurses Association. Ms. Campbell was a member of Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir and teaching the children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Jerry, Jason Jr., and Ray Campbell, and two sisters, Ruth Campbell and Norma Dill. Survivors include: brother, Harley E. Campbell, and his wife Phyllis, Acworth, GA; sister, Shelby Hartley, and her husband Richard, Johnson City; two aunts, Elsie Garland, Unicoi, and Florence Daugherty, Elizabethton; two nieces, Anita Garland, and her husband Tony, Johnson City, and Lori McMillan, and her husband Daniel, Knoxville; nephew, Michael Dill, and his wife Pam, Johnson City; four great-nieces, Lacey, Gracey, and Macey McMillan, all of Knoxville, and Maddie Dill, Johnson City; and two step-great-nieces, Hannah and Courtney Chandler, Johnson City. The family of Ms. Campbell will receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM Saturday at Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Rev. Terry Jones and Rev. Bill Greer will officiate. Music will be provided by the ladies trio of Keystone Freewill Baptist Church and the Johnson City Freewill Baptist Church trio. Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for graveside services. For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
