Brenda Manis, 59, 510 Care Lane, Johnson City, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Manis was a native of Butler who had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late David Arthur and Lou Dugger Caldwell. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Caldwell; one brother, Charles Edwin Caldwell. Mrs. Manis was of the Free Will Baptist faith. Survivors include: her husband, James Manis, of the home; two daughters, Connie Keesey, of Johnson City and Leona McAllister and her husband David, of Jonesborough; three sisters, Ruth Anderson, Lulla Bell Demske both of Indiana and Linda Caldwell, of Johnson City; two brothers, Roger Caldwell, of Mountain City and David Caldwell, of Hampton; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. The graveside service for Brenda Manis will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, April 20, 2008 in the Whitehead Cemetery, Butler . Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday in the funeral chapel prior to the service.
