Bruce J. Scholten, age 45, of 1015 East Holston Avenue, Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer.He was born in Brussels, Belgium, the son of the late William Henry Scholten and Dorothy 'Dotty' Bowman Scholten Freeman.Bruce was a graduate of Science Hill High School and Paris Junior College, Paris, Texas..He was an extraordinary husband, father, and best friend who is loved by all who know him.Bruce was a certified master jeweler and gemologist and was very gifted in the art of custom design. He was owner of Bruce Scholten Jewelers.Bruce loved life and was the happiest when he was golfing or fishing with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.Pam would like to give special thanks to Dr. George Issacs at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, North Carolina for his heartfelt care and concern for Bruce.He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal grandparents, Robert Bowman and Janelle Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Clawson Scholten; a son, Garrett William Scholten; two step-sons, Levi Joseph and Charles Douglas Smith; two brothers, William Henry 'Ike' Scholten and Steven James Scholten, all of Johnson City; two sisters, Robbin Rae Scholten of Columbus, Ohio and Sandy Lynn Scholten of Johnson City, one niece, Stacey Anne Scholten and a very special friend and business associate, Jack Krouse.Funeral services for Mr. Scholten will be conducted Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 8:00 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Rev. Roy Yelton will officiate, assisted by Rev. Ken Hecht. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Friends may call at the home at other times. Family and friends will meet at Morris-Baker on Thursday at 8:45 AM, to go in procession to Whitehead Cemetery in Hampton for a 10:00 AM service. Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Steve Tuch, Alan Keesecker, David Hilbert, John Whitson, Ronnie Roberson, J. D. Livingston, Robert Schubert. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Krouse. For those who wish, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Children?s Bible Mission, 111 CBM Camp Road, Watauga, TN 37694.
