Bulah Gay Leonard, 90, 1405 Valley View Drive, Johnson City, went to be with her Lord, Saturday September 22, 2007 surrounded by her family at home. Born October 2, 1916 in Bee, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Hendrix and Virginia Margaret Fuller Compton. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Leonard was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Sherman F. Leonard in November 20, 2006; six sisters, Braxie Sykes, Vesta Davenport, Ruby Sutherland, Fonda Duty, Princess Leonard and Phronia Greene; one brother, Earl Compton. Survivors include: three children, Patricia Hunter and her husband Worley, Glenda Harvey and her husband Roy Alton and Michael 'Mickey'? Leonard and his wife Kathy; one brother, Chester Graham Compton; seven grandchildren, Melea Hunter and special friend Tam Treadway, Mark Hunter and his wife Crystal, Kelley Greene, Chad Harvey and his wife Michelle, Dawn Carcich and her husband Jeremy, Michael Austin Leonard and Colton Keith Leonard; three great grandchildren, Sydney Hunter, Lindsey Hunter and Gehrig Carcich; several close nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Bulah Gay Leonard will be conducted at 8 PM Monday, September 24, 2007 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Reece Harris and Pastor Jim Nipper will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mark Hunter, Chad Harvey, Morgan Littleford, Gary Walker, Gene Caldwell, Carl Kinchloe, Steve Weaver and Jeremy Carcich. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice program for their support and loving care. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice, 101 Med Tech Pkwy, Johnson City, Tn 37604.
