Burgess Bridgforth

Burgess Kiser Bridgforth died Monday evening, April 24, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Center after a very brief hospitalization. She was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel Hugh and Martha Lowry Kiser. She lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State College. She served as a dietitian at Johnson City Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an avid Bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, William A. Bridgforth and a brother, Samuel Hugh Kiser, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Bridgforth O?Connor, son-in-law Chris O?Connor and grandchildren, Allison and Thomas O?Connor, all of Johnson City; a son, Richard Kiser Bridgforth, daughter-in-law, Pat Allen Bridgforth and grandson Brian Allen, all living in Texas; and a son, William A. Bridgforth, Jr., daughter-in-law, Betsy Maddux Bridgforth of Johnson City and grandchildren, Samantha Bridgforth Poteat, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Adam Bridgforth of Durham, North Carolina. A sister, Nancy Jane Kiser Thomas of Elizabethton, also survives Burgess. A celebration of Burgess?s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 6:00 PM on Thursday evening. Rev. Baron Eliason will officiate. The family will visit with friends afterwards in the fellowship hall. The family requests that in place of flowers, memorial gifts be made to either The Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House, 418 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604 or Pre-School Program, First Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
