Calvin Richard Whitmer

Calvin R. Whitmer, 59, Johnson City, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the James H. Quillen Medical Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. Mr. Whitmer was a Ranson, WV native and had lived most of his life in Alexandria, VA. He was the son of the late Horace Abner and Audrey Frances Sager Whitmer and was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Elliott Whitmer. Mr. Whitmer was formerly employed in teaching, home remodeling and as a Giant Food grocery store produce manager. He was a US Marine Vietnam War veteran. Mr. Whitmer was a member of Groveton Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA. Survivors include two sisters, Anna Louise Whitmer, Kensington, MD and Martha Belle Peplow, Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Wayne Douglas Whitmer and his wife Pattye, Gainesville, VA and John Edward Whitmer, Holiday, FL and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mr.Whitmer will be held at 3 PM Saturday, February, 24, 2007at Bill?s Creek Baptist Church, Lake Lure, NC. Reverend Ken Hay will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
