Carolyn Enkema Chapo

November 20, 1914 — October 14, 2006

Mrs. Carolyn King Enkema Chapo, 91, of 2101 Christian Lane, Village Tower, Apt. 406, Johnson City, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Morrison, Tennessee and a daughter of the late Philip and Susie St. John King. She had lived in Elizabethton since 1941, before moving to Appalachian Christian Village in 1977. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Enkema in 1985. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Carolyn was also a member of the Elizabethton Woman?s Club, the A.A.R.P., the American Legion Auxiliary and had been a Cub Scout leader for many years. Survivors include: her husband, Frank Kalman Chapo of the home, three sons, Dr. Robert Enkema, Jr. of Nashville, Dr. Philip Enkema of Kingsport and James Enkema of Johnson City; a daughter, Carolyn E. Harkey of Gray; a brother, Philip Woodson King, Jr. of Morrison; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. The family extends a special loving thanks to those who have demonstrated your love and concern in numerous and unending ways through the years. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Tim Hall and Mr. Kevin Harkey officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Morris - Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and also on Sunday at the church at 1:00 p.m. until time of service at two. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Appalchian Christian Village, Central Church of Christ or Milligan College. A private committal service will be held later at the Happy Valley Memorial Park for the family. Active pallbearers will be he grandsons, Bob Enkema, John Enkema, David Enkema, Will Enkema, Philip Enkema, Robert Eenkema, Ben Enkema, Brian Enkema and John Harkey. Honorary pallbearers will be: birthday girls; Helen Hyder, Beulah Bowers, Arvella Greenwell, Virginia Laws and the elders of the Central Church of Christ: Walter Pugh, Gene Arrowood, Gene Chapman, L.A. Hamilton, Mike Sheridan, Dennis Vonderfect and John McKinnis.
