Catherine Chidester Mcginty

Catherine Chidester McGinty, age 85, of Gray, Tennessee, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. McGinty was a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native who had lived in Covington, Louisiana for twenty-five years prior to relocating to Johnson City in 1983. She was the daughter of the late Alton and Etta Chidester. Mrs. McGinty was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Over the years, she was very active in the Catholic Church as a volunteer. As well as being a homemaker, she worked with her husband, the late John T. McGinty, as an accountant. Survivors include: four sons, Ronald John McGinty, and his wife Diane, of Naples, FL, Michael John McGinty, and his wife Lisa P., of Shawsville, VA, John Charles McGinty, Point-A-La-Hache, LA, and Brian John McGinty, of Johnson City; two daughters, Patricia Ann Jewett, and her husband William A., of Gray, and Kathleen Ann Stith, and her husband Reginald B., of Noblesville, IN; three grandsons, Shannon Christopher Jewett, of Aspen, CO, Sean Patrick Jewett, and his wife Helene P., of Denver, CO, and Ryan Michael Jewett, and his wife Caroline B, of Knoxville, TN; two granddaughters, Mary Katherine Stith, Noblesville, IN, and Angey Kay Stith, Vanwert, OH; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine Chidester McGinty will be conducted 7:00 PM Tuesday at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Father Gerard Finucane will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the church. Entombment in Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, LA will follow services conducted Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary?s Catholic Church Building Fund, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601.
