Charles Albert Green

August 28, 1952 — August 17, 2010

Charles A. Green, a wonderful man known as Butch to all that loved him, left this world and started his new life with Jesus on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on August 28, 1952, in Washington County, Tennessee to the late Charles A. Green and Doris A. Green, and he would have turned 58 on August 28, 2010. Butch demonstrated the true meaning of a warrior. He fought a valiant fight to live-enduring more than the average person would be able to. He did this because of his deep love for his family, particularly his 2 younger children Taylor who is 14 and Tiffany who is 18 as they lost their mother less than two years ago. Butch was also one of the kindest and most generous people you would ever meet. He was continually giving to others even when he did not have to give. He bought friends TVs when theirs stopped working, gave cars to both brother-in-laws who could not afford one, and even purchased a computer for his VA roommate so he could communicate with his wife who had cancer and lived too far away to visit. Butch will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, exceptional intelligence, his creativity in coming up with new ideas, and his extreme will to live and endure whatever it took to stay with his family. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Butch and his family attended Hawthorne Church. Butch may be absent from this physical world but he will remain alive forever in the hearts of those who truly loved him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elkin and Grace Green, and Virginia Allen Roe and Albert E. Allen. Butch is survived by his loving family, his mother, Doris A. Green of Johnson City, TN; his sisters, Nancy Daugherty and husband Ben of Charlotte, NC, Tammy Grindstaff and husband Johnny of Johnson City, TN, and Loretta Green of Johnson City, TN; his children, Taylor Green of the home, Tiffany Green of Erwin, TN, and Kim Green of Jonesborough, TN; his grandchildren, Colt and Autumn Miller; his niece, Michelle Bailey of Charlotte, NC; his nephews, Jesse, Clint, and Dillon Grindstaff of Johnson City, TN; his adopted family member, Minda Furches who took excellent care of Butch during the last months of his life; special friends, Wayne and Julia Allen; and numerous cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, August 22, 2010, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Morris Baker North Chapel. A funeral service for Mr. Charles A. 'Butch'? Green will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, at 12:30 pm in the Morris Baker North Chapel with Reverend Hollace Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery where he will be buried with his loving wife, Susan Carlene Green, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2008. Military honors will be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 and the TN Army National Guard.
