Charles Anthony Johnson

Charles Anthony Johnson, 49, Gray, TN, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of C.W. and Jerry Harbour Johnson of Lynchburg, Virginia. Charles graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA and received a B.E. Degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. in 1979. He had also earned his professional Engineering License. He moved to Johnson City over 24 years ago and worked for Siemens Energy & Automation, formerly Texas Instruments, most of that time. Mr. Johnson had been an active member of Southwestern Church, Johnson City, since May 1981. He served as a deacon, church treasurer, choir member, moderator, member of the Stewardship Committee and member of the Counting Committee. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Corrine Susan Bailey Johnson; five children: Matthew Brian Johnson, Thomas Isaiah Johnson, Cora Isabelle Johnson, Courtney Kendra King Johnson, and Joseph Carl King Johnson, all of Johnson City. He is also survived by four brothers and their wives: Clifford and Beth Johnson, Reston, VA; Calvin and Cindy Johnson, Berryville, VA; Chris and Amy Johnson, Madison Heights, VA; and Clinton and Carol Johnson, Mooresville, IN; five nieces: Heather Johnson, Savanna Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, and Emma Johnson; two nephews: Felix Guevara and Joshua Johnson; and a host of cousins. The memorial service, conducted by Reverend John A. Jones, will be held at Southwestern Baptist Church, 1112 Cherokee Road, Johnson City on Friday, March 24, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.. The graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, Erwin Highway, Johnson City, on Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. The family procession will leave Southwestern Baptist Church at 9:15 a.m. to go to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Clark, Clifford Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Chris Johnson, Clinton Johnson, Matt Johnson and Brett Tiller. Music for the service will be provided by Annie McNeese, Sheila Vaught, Galina Timofeev, Southwestern Baptist Church Worship Team and 'Masterpiece' Trio, In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of Southwestern Baptist Church, 1112 Cherokee Road, Johnson City, TN 37604.
