Charles Girdner

Charles Girdner, age 80, of 1603 Crystal Springs Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Girdner, who was born in Dayton Beach, Florida, but had lived most of his life in Johnson City, was the son of the late Connie G. Girdner and the late Lena Mae Baker Girdner. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Girdner had been employed as the assistant service manager at Tennessee Motor Company. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had been in the National Guard for 32 years. In addition to his wife, Mary Cox Girdner, who in January of 2000 had preceded Mr. Girdner in death, he was preceded in death by one brother, Connie Girdner, Jr. and two sisters, Amelia G. Napier and Ina Pearl G. Furches. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Hawkins and her husband Greg and Becky Lyons, both of Johnson City and one grandson, Trevor Lyons of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Four nephews also survive, Carl E. Furches of South Boston, Virginia, Billy Jack Furches, Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Robert Furches, Morristown, Tennessee and James Furches of Johnson City.
