Charles Hopson

Mr. Charles Hopson, age 80, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, in the NHC Healthcare Center. Mr. Hopson was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late William Donald and Hassie Garland Hopson. In addition to his parents, one brother Wayne Hopson, one sister Geraldene Hopson, and one grandson Joshua Clawson also preceded him in death. Mr. Hopson was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, where he also served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the East Tennessee Antique Engine Association. Mr. Hopson worked as a mechanic for 40 years prior to retiring as a Master Technician from Bill Gatton Mazda in 1995. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Rachel Sanders Hopson; four children, Debbie Miller, Kim Vines and her husband Kevin, Charles 'Chipper'? Hopson and his wife Amy, and Lisa Clawson and her husband Sam; four grandchildren, Lauren Hazlewood and her husband Justin, Adriene Miller, Katie Vines, and Caleb Clawson; one sister, Jewel Tolley and her husband Jerry; three brothers, Milburn 'Pill'? Hopson and his wife Rita, Truman Hopson and his wife Pam, and Harry Hopson and his wife Theresa; one aunt, Pauline Hopson. The funeral service for Mr. Charles Hopson will be conducted at 1 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Bo Deaton, Minister will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM Tuesday prior to the service and other times at the residence of the daughter Kim Vines.
