Charlie Bennett

Rev. Charlie Bennett, 93, of Johnson City, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Midvale, Idaho, but had lived most of his life in Johnson City. Charlie was a son of the late Monroe and Ida Whitehead Bennett. He was a retired employee of the American Limestone Company having served there for over 30 years. He was a member and pastor of the True Gospel Free Will Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Casey Bennett in 2001 also four brothers. Survivors include: his wife, Dare Presnell Bennett of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Betty Bennett of Johnson City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Tracy Bennett of Gray, Vickie and Carl Henegar of Fall Branch; a great grandchild, Zackery Bennett of Gray; a sister, Hassie Campbell of Johnson City; three stepchildren, Shirley Leach, Jesse Guy and Darrell Guy; three step grandchildren. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home South Chapel at 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Howard Shaver and Rev. Richard Sheppard, Jr. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of services at 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Morris '? Baker Funeral Home in procession by 12:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be: Zackery Bennett, Johnny Adams, Michael Blair, Charles White, Eddie Vanhoy and Joe Snyder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jimmy Greene, David White, Graham Hodges and Ronnie Bennett. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the True Gospel Free Will Baptist Church, 804 McArthur St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
