Clarence William Cannon

December 31, 1931 — January 11, 2007

Clarence William Cannon, 75, 724 Princeton Road, died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Cannon was a native of Avery County, NC, a former resident of Elizabethton and had lived in Johnson City for the past 26 years. He was a son of the late William Joseph and Annie B. Norman Cannon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by one son, William Keith Cannon, two brothers, Charles Cannon and Samuel Cannon and one sister, Mildred Cook. Mr. Cannon was retired from Raytheon. He was a Korean War US Navy veteran. Mr. Cannon was a member of Elk Valley Baptist Church, Elk Valley, NC and a member of the Elizabethton VFW Post #2166. Survivors include his wife, Betty L. King Cannon; one son, Steve Cannon, Concord, NC; two daughters, Marcia Dressler, Charleston, SC and Lisa Stewart, Johnson City; two brothers, Richard Cannon, Statesville, NC and Bob Cannon, Raleigh, NC; one sister, Dorothy Dugger, Elizabethton; fourteen grandchildren, Keith Cannon, Jr., Chad Cannon, Josh Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Preston Cannon, Amber Cannon, Luke Stewart, Jake Stewart, Rebecca Stewart, Melody Stewart, Shanna Sunney, Nicole Bulla and Taylor Charles King; very special niece, JoBeth Bulla and her husband, Kenneth; special friends, Roberta Salts and family, Norman Stevens and family and Helen Estep and family. A funeral service for Mr. Cannon will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 14, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Family members and Brian Sunney will officiate. Grandsons, Luke and Jake Stewart, will provide music. Military graveside honors, conducted by the Elizabethton VFW Post #2166, will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Love, Alfred King, Kenneth Bulla, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Christopher Shoals, Dr. Ahmad Khan, Greg Cannon, Anthony Cannon and James Miller. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
