Clive Arlin “Brogie” Broyles, Jr., 76, of Piney Flats, went home to be with his Lord on December 7, 2022 at Mountain Home VA Hospital after an extended illness.
Arlin “Brogie” was drafted in the US Army December 1965 serving in Vietnam from August 1966 to September 1967 and discharged in September 1967. During this time, he earned two overseas service bars, a national defense service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam service medal, and the Army commendation medal. He was a former truck driver.
Brogie loved racing. He raced in 6 cylinder and late model class at Bulls Gap, Kingsport and other area dirt tracks.
He was inducted into the Volunteer Speedway 2021 Hall of Fame class on October 9, 2021.
He is preceded in death by: parents, Clive Arlin Sr. and Marie Virginia Broyles; sister, Rose Mary Dexter; and brother, Roy Broyles.
He is Survived by: brothers, Charles “Chuck” Broyles, and Billy J. Broyles; sisters: Joyce Combs, Betty Musick, Jane Cross, Beulah and husband Bob Fenbert, Connie and husband Jerry Hoss. Several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
The family of Brogie Broyles will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Estel Williams. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM the following day, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Shell Cemetery, 225 Methodist Church Street, Piney Flats, TN 37686. Those attending are asked to gather at the graveside by 9:50 AM.
Pallbearers will be Mick Ford, Jody Phillips, Michael Combs, Joe W. Cross, Jayson Sheppard, and Shane King. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Whitaker, Sam O’Dell, Tex Scalf, Tom Hale, Bob Martin, Rick Trivett, and C.P. Young.
