Dana Michael Somich

Dana Michael Somich, 58, of Tuolumne, California, died Wednesday, January 15, 2009 at the Doctors Medical Center, Modesto, California following a heart attack. He was a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, son of the late Major Donald Frances Somich and Mary Jane Strickland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlynn Somich. Dana was a veteran of Viet Nam having served two tours of duty and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in battle. He worked as an employee of the Kirtland Air Force Base with many and varied duties. Survivors include: his life partner of 31 years, Frank Canizales also of Tuolumne, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Michele Somich of Piney Flats; a niece, Gracie Somich of Piney Flats. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home in the North Chapel at 12:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Daniel Stiltner. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. A private entombment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Schuarzen, Zachary Canizles, Phillip Torbett, Randy Harrison and Clifford Hall. Online condolences are available at www.morrisbaker.com.
