Daniel Brooks Rasar

August 14, 1941 — December 18, 2009

Daniel Brooks Rasar, 68, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, 2009. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City. Mr. Rasar was a native of Carter County and spent most on life in Washington County. He was a son of the late Lockett and Amanda Nave Rasar. Mr. Rasar was a U.S. Air Force veteran and returned to Johnson City after serving his country to attend and graduate from E.T.S.U. with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He worked for the Johnson City Foundry and Iron Works for fifteen years. After retiring, he became a substitute teacher in Washington County School System. Mr. Rasar was a member of the Metro Lions Club and had served in many positions within the Club. He was a Zone Chairman, 12-N Cabinet Treasure, Lion of the Decade from 1984 to 1995, and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves a loving legacy with both family and friends, especially the lunch bunch that meet at 'the Pig'?, and his best bud 'Maxine'?(his Dachshund). Survivors include: his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Vickie Boyd Rasar; two daughters, Pam Hines and granddaughter Malia of Johnson City, husband Kenny and grandchildren Dalton and Savana of Knoxville, Debbie and Connie Dotson and grandchildren Jake and Abigail in Atlanta, Georgia; his Mother-In-Law, Daisy Lou Boyd of Murray, Kentucky. The funeral service for Daniel B. Rasar will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church (225 Princeton Road, Johnson City). Rev. James Bennington and Rev. Bethany Douty will officiate. Interment will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected . Honorary pallbearers will be the 'Lunch Bunch' at the Pig and Alan Wilson. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church, prior to the service. The Rasar family would like to offer special thanks to: the ladies at the Smokey Mountain Dialysis Center, Penny, Barbara, and Debbie; Dr. Tran, Dr. Vermillion, Dr. Guha, Dr. Haddadin, and Dr. Chatelian; and the Johnson City Medical Center for their loving care for Mr. Rasar.
