David Maynard Light

David Maynard Light, age 65, of 1824 Mary Street, Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee, a son of the late Brice and Lora Fink Light. Mr. Light was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and had served his country in Vietnam. He was a squad leader of the all volunteer 'SRAP'?, short range ambush patrol, and earned a Bronze Star for valor during execution of his duties in this elite unit. He was the former owner and operator of Lights Roofing and Repair and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post#2108. In addition to his parents, Mr. Light was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Light in 2004, one son, Billy Gene Light, one sister, Elizabeth Kelly and two brothers, James Light and William Light. Mr. Light is survived by one daughter, Lisa Light and one son, Bruce Light both of Johnson City; two sisters, Eva Britt of Jonesborough and Glenda Randolph of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and a loving and special friend, Syliva Rhea. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, December 7, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Reverend Donnie Humphries officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the TN Army National Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 1:30 pm.
