Dessie Little Simmons

Dessie Little Simmons, age 90, of 500 Hillrise Boulevard, Johnson City, Tennessee, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center. The daughter of the late George W. Little Sr. and Maude Kerney Little, Mrs. Simmons was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was an employee of Tennessee Eastman Corporation, retiring after 35 years of service. Mrs. Simmons graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in business. She also was the editor for the Watauga Association of Genealogists, 'WAGS'. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City. Preceding Mrs. Simmons in death are her husband, Fred Simmons, two sisters, Ougrita Cash and Mable Hill and two brothers, L. K. 'Love' Little and Earl Little. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Simmons Long of Gray; two sisters, Lucille Miller of New Hampshire, Jean Vance of Alvin, Texas; one brother, George Little of Florida; two grandchildren, Mark Jennings and wife Liane of Johnson City, Emily Bowman of Johnson City and two great grandchildren, Marlee and Chelsea Jennings. Services for Mrs. Simmons will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 1:45 PM at Morris-Baker.
