Diana Lee McIntyre, age 60, died Monday, February 27th at her residence. The daughter of the late Thomas William McIntyre, Sr. and Geneva Carathers McIntyre, Diana was born in the Appalachian Hospital and continued to live the rest of her life in Johnson City. Diana had attended South Side Elementary School in special education class where she qualified for two-week summer camp, earning an award for best manners. She attended Dawn of Hope in Jerri Rector?s class where she excelled in wood burning and macram?. Norma Hunter was her best friend at Dawn of Hope. She also attended a workshop in Elizabethton, Tennessee sponsored by Denise Lingerie Company. Her favorite activities were visiting Dawn of Hope, going shopping and eating at the Piccadilly Cafeteria. She participated in Dawn of Hope Special Olympics in broad jump and running. Diana never met a stranger. She loved children and little babies. She loved going to church where her favorite songs were Amazing Grace and I?ll Fly Away. She was a member of Church of God. The family would like to express special thanks to Johnson City Medical Center Home Health and Hospice, her special friend and physical therapist, Connie Bennett and her neighbor and special friend Jerri Shaw. Diana was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgie Hinnant King and Frances McIntyre and four brothers, Thomas William McIntyre, Jr., James Lawrence McIntyre, Melvin Ray McIntyre and Robert Hugh McIntyre. She is survived by four sisters, Lottie Spain, Johnson City, Clara Rose, Johnson City, Barbara Stewart, Johnson City, Mary Thrasher, Lithonia, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 PM Thursday, March 2nd at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to going in procession to Roselawn for the graveside service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
