Donald Franklin Carpenter

April 12, 1934 — March 21, 2007

Donald Franklin Carpenter, 72, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was a native of Mooresburg, Tennessee, son of the late Fred and Myrtle Kenner Carpenter. Donald was a retired machinist supervisor for Raytheon Corporation. He was a veteran of the Korean war having served in the U. S. Army as a tank commander. He was a member of the Johnson City First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: three brothers, Kenner, Ralph and William and two sisters, Fleta McClurg and Kathryn Burns. Survivors include: his wife, Wilma Jones Carpenter of the home; two sons, Dennis Carpenter of Watagua and Kirbie Carpenter of Stoney Creek; five grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Logan, Kelsey and Macala Carpenter; two brothers, Ray Carpenter of Mooresburg and Daniel Carpenter of St. Albans, Vermont; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Adam Risher and Rev. Gene Harless. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007. A committal service will be conducted in the Monte Vista Memorial Park on Sunday following the funeral service. Military honors will be provided by the Kingsport VFW #3382 and the Tennessee National Guard.
