Dorothy W. Norman, 86, 3209 Bristol Hwy, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at NHC Healthcare. Mrs. Norman was a Spruce Pine, NC native and had lived in Sullivan County for the past 60 years. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie Boone Howell. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Norman and two brothers, Ernest and Charles Howell. She was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Pam Gentry and her husband, Phil, Greeneville, Lola Briggs and her husband, Carl, Piney Flats, Judy Jenkins and her husband, Connie, Piney Flats and Loretta Hubbard and her husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; three sisters, Margie Carver, Jonesborough, Myrtle Walker, Johnson City and Shelby Jean McMahan, Asheville, NC; three brothers, Ben Ray Howell, Bakersville, NC, Gordon Howell, Boone, NC and Roy Howell, Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Sudie Howell, Johnson City and Josie Howell, NC; one granddaughter, Amber Scarbro, Greeneville; five grandsons, Chad Gentry, Greeneville, Tim Briggs, and Jack Jenkins both of Piney Flats, Jamie Hubbard and Greg Hubbard both of Elizabethton: three great grandchildren, Cole, Jonah and Braden; two step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Norman will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, January 25, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Dr. Allen Davis and Reverend Reed Mullins will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Grandson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Adventa Hospice Staff and NHC Staff. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Adventa Hospice, 684 Hwy 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or Piney Flats First Baptist Church, 100 Cherry Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
