Dossie W Pugh

November 25, 1906 — March 23, 2007

Mrs. Dossie Wiseman Pugh,100 years old, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on March 23, 2007 at her residence at 112 West Chesnut Street, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pugh was a native of Bakersville, NC but had lived in Milligan and Johnson City for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Blake T. and Hattie Phillips Wiseman. She had worked at Eastman and retired from Mayes Brothers Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Cherokee Church of Christ. Mrs. Pugh was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Pugh, an infant son, two grandchildren; brothers, Milt, Arthur (Pete), Charles and Guy Wiseman; sisters: Myrtle Freeman, Elsie West, Georgia Pritchard, and Mamie McKinney. Survivors include her son, Brock Pugh and wife Ruby of Jonesborough, grandchildren, Michael Pugh and wife Gwen, Amy Anderson and husband Mike, Jeff Pugh and wife, Jodie, and Rebecca Markland. Great grandchildren are: Allison, Whitney and Hunter Pugh, Erica and Andy Bell, Makayla Anderson, Mason and Peyton Pugh, Taylor Markland, and great great granddaughter, Hannah. She is also survived by one sister, Mae Pritchard of Johnson City, special niece, Dossie Pritchard, and several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pugh was a blessing to all who knew her-a gentle, gracious and loving lady. She was generous in helping others throughout her life time and always loving to family, friends, and others who knew her. The family would like to express appreciation to Elbert Charpie, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, and members of the church who visited her faithfully. Also appreciation extended to those who provided and delivered Meals on Wheels and to Bryan Sexton for maintaining her yard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 612 Collins Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604 or Meals on Wheels through Senior Citizens of Johnson City. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 25, 2007 at 8 PM from the Morris Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Elbert Charpie will officiate. Music will be provided by her niece, Sandy Pritchard Souders. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, March 26, 2007 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Pugh, Jeff Pugh, Harry Freeman, Arnold Wiseman, Joe Wiseman, David Wiseman, Jack West and Bill McKinney. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
